Program Facilitator and Support Workers
Opal Program Facilitators and support workers work collaboratively with fellow staff and volunteers at Opal Family Services to design and deliver inclusive programs for children, youth, and adults with special needs. Applicants will join a small and ambitious team of dedicated staff who provide exceptional service to families with special needs in the Fredericton area. We pride ourselves on our creative, inclusive, and friendly working environment. The Program Facilitator and Support Worker positions provide a wonderful opportunity to work in a supportive team, to gain experience, and to assist in program development and expansion.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting with all aspects of programming including crafts, games, outings, and individualized goals.
Transporting children and youth from school or home to attend the program as well as transportation of children and youth to and from community outings.
Working collaboratively with staff and volunteers in the program.
Providing support, assistance, and encouragement to individuals in the program.
Assisting with problem solving and crisis management.
Working closely with parents/caregivers to provide a safe and successful experience for participants. Collaborating with teachers, EAs, and other professionals to establish and follow individualized goals for participants to ensure consistent, quality care.
Ensuring safe work practices, reporting any hazards, incidents, or near misses.
Bringing a solution focused approach to the program and sharing ideas about future programming or suggestions for improvements for the safe, inclusive, and successful operation of the program.
